Restaurants and Bars in Prague You Must Visit

I was only in Prague for three days but the short trip was amazing because of all the great food and bars I visited. A must-see list was given to us by a girl who studied abroad there so my friends and I decided to try them out ourselves. Here’s a list of the best restaurants and bars in Prague, according to me.

1. Putica Bistro & Restaurant

Location: Anglická 81/24
120 00 Praha 2

(Off Namesti Miru and across from Costa Coffee)

WiFi: Yes

The girl described this restaurants as her all-time favorite restaurant in Prague so it was no question we had to go visit. The restaurant is pretty big, looks super fancy but food is reasonably priced. We went around 5 p.m. on a Saturday and the place was empty but some tables were already reserved so it could get crowded at night. There’s a set menu for lunch and a diverse dinner menu. The customer service was good and the food was excellent. I had the Slow Roast Pork Ribs and both my friends had the Putica Thai Work, a noodle bowl.

2. Blah Blah Bar

Currency: CZK

Location: Žitná 41, 110 00 Praha 1

(Down the street from Putica)

WiFi: Yes

If you plan on visiting several bars and want something to start off the night, this is the place to go. Blah Blah has a large menu of cocktail drinks with really cool names which makes you want to try them all. The bartenders are super nice and they put their time and effort into every drink they make. This bar is underground and has a really nice atmosphere with a large piano and antique furniture.

3. AnonymouS Bar

Location: Michalská 432/12, 110 00 Praha

WiFi: Yes

If want a type of bar that you’ve never seen before and never will again, this is the place to go. AnonymouS bar is by far one of the coolest bars I’ve ever been to and I don’t think anything else could top it. It has a secret menu (that I won’t tell you how to find) so you can enjoy the mystery but google it if you can’t resist. Once you unlock the secret menu, you can order drinks that light up on fire, come in a volleyball, rollercoaster, dog house, IV bag, slingshot etc. The menu seems endless and drinks are about 10 euros each. There’s a nice backstory story to this bar which you can read on the menu and all the bartenders wear vendetta masks which makes for an authentic anonymous atmosphere.

*Reservations are HIGHLY recommended

4. Café Louvre

Location: Národní 22, 110 00 Praha 1

WiFi: No

This café was mentioned about several times on our trip by our tour guide making it a place we couldn’t miss. The café also has a restaurant so it’s perfect for a dinner after visiting the Prague Castle and walking over the Charles Bridge since it’s right near there. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable, you’ll find that food in Prague doesn’t cost much. The menu is diverse, my friend had roasted duck while I had the club sandwich. But the best part about this café is the dessert! Our tour guide said it has the best chocolate cake in Prague which my friends agreed to and I had the blueberry cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and it was delicious (I’m craving it right now). This would also be a good place for breakfast.

5. Angelato

Location: Rytířská 27, Praha 1

WiFi: Yes

Angelato is known to have some of the best gelato in Prague so if you haven’t visited Italy yet then I would recommended going here for dessert. There are various flavors that change each month and one scoop costs about 1 euro.

6. Hemingway Bar

Location: Karoliny Světlé 279/26, 110 00 Praha 1-Staré Město

(Near the Charles Bridge)

WiFi: Weak

Inspired by Hemingway himself, this bar is a great place to spend your night drinking hard core liquor or mixed cocktails. The menu is endless when it comes to drinks however, I only had one of their cocktails. Similar to AnonymouS bar but not as fun, some drinks are served in perfume bottles, a camera lens, a book or on a compact disc.

**Reservations are HIGHLY recommended

7. Terasa U Prince

Location:Staroměstské nám. 460/29, 110 00 Praha 1

(Old Town Square next to Black Angel’s Bar)

WiFi: Yes

This is the most expensive restaurant I went to and there are good and bad things about it. It’s part of Hotel U Prince, located right in Old Town Square across the astronomical clock, you can’t miss it. There is a big heated outdoor terrace with blankets available, perfect for nice spring day or to hide from the rain. The menu is huge, almost as big as one of my textbooks and the food was good. There’s also a diverse drink and dessert menu which makes you go crazy picking one. I had piña colada ice cream with pineapples and it was amazing. The bad thing is the customer service was poor, an unexpected service charge of 30 crowns per person showed up on our bill plus an additional required tip. No other restaurant I went to in Prague did this and it’s not required to tip waiters even though you may feel obligated. I would only recommend this restaurant if you don’t mind paying the extra fees.
